Started to do a little walking last week, to see how the knee would react. Just around the neighborhood, on tarred paths and about a mile distance. Knee is fine, but I noticed that all three ponds that are on the route were dry. Bone dry. I've lived here for 30 years, never saw that happen. So, I decided to go to my usual hiking grounds to see if I could do that, and to check on the ponds out there. Every one of them were dry also, with the exception of the biggest one. That one now has about 20 feet of new shoreline. I don't know how deep it is, or if it is spring fed. It is freaking dry out there. I am wondering if the same is true of the BW. Also, I am curious as to whether these conditions are related to the lack of birds in my area. I know I am using a lot less seed in my feeders. Oh, and the knee must be healing up, it wasn't sore after a good 2 mile romp in the woods. No ticks either.
