What do you soloist do with your empty packs when you get camp set up? I could put them in the tent but it would be kinds nice to have a little extra room in the tent. I could hang them outside but that would be a welcome sign for bears. I use bear vaults so don't want to be hanging anything way up in trees, actually I worry more about mini bears wrecking them. I usually put most of my loose stuff in them and leave them out.

I use my empty pack as Echo's sleeping pad. Before Echo started tripping with me I kept empty packs in the vestibule.

I put all the smaller stuff into them and either hang them just under the tarp or toss them on the ground under my hammock. One pack is sleeping and clothing and goes with the hammock, the other is food and cooking items and hangs with the food packs.

I use a 2 man tent when soloing so sometimes I keep them in the tent but usually under a vestibule. If I can I try to keep them dry to reduce weight for portaging.

If using my Lean1+ there is plenty of room for the packs, Granite Gear Nimbus Trace and Nimbus Core.
With my BSI Chinook solo, they go under the backside vestibule.

i try not to bring anything inside my tent besides sleeping gear, the clothes i'm wearing and a rain jacket. all other gear, and food, is tucked under overturned canoes. i sometimes places cooking pots and pans with utensils on top of the canoe as a noise maker in case something has crawled into camp.

I either put mine under my tarp or under the over hand on my tent.

I don't really ever have an empty pack. Any loose stuff goes into the pack and I put it under the hammock along with my day pack, boots and camp shoes.

We hang them here. Someone on this site turned Bog's onto these and now we take them along on all trips. Usually packs, rain gear and water system get hung from it. If there's lots of rain then we move things under the tarp.

Edit: Adding one of these above it would be nice, but where do you draw the line?

I usually pack two bags. My tent bag has, obviously, my tent and everything for night and sleeping. I usually leave my extra jacket, clothes, first aid kit etc in it and tuck it at one end of the tent. It gives my dog something to lean against, which he likes to do. My camp bag which has my tarp and everything for around the fire/stove just stays out under my tarp on the ground. I tuck any stuff not in use in there - saw, extra fuel, hatchet, rope, etc.

It goes in the tent under the mattress on the end that might need a little leveling.

I cover them with a very old rain poncho that I used for backpacking in the 80's. And this pile either goes under my hammock or under the tarp by the sitting area.

Last September my first camp I got a surprise in the morning when my packs were in 3 inches of water after a storm. I make sure they are on good draining ground "for sure" now.

Like most: under the hammock.
However, when I've seen mice in camp, I've just clipped it to the hammock suspension off the ground.
I've been thinking that a dedicated sil pack cover would be nice for at night so I could just hang it on a nearby tree, but haven't arranged anything yet.

I have a mini gear hammock that hangs under my sleeping hammock and that is where I put my pack and extra stuff.

If I have my 2p tent along the packs usually go in the tent with me or in one of the vestibules if I have a second body in the tent.

I never totally empty my pack and by the end of the day it's almost ready for the next day except tent, sleeping bag and air mattress, before I go to sleep I put it under my canoe, when I wake up it takes me about fifteen minutes and I'm in the water and ready to go.

Under the hammock on a ground tarp, or in the tent / vestibule.
