As most of you know by now, Canoecopia 2020 will be March 13th, 14th and 15th in Madison, Wisconsin. As of this posting, Canoecopia 2020 is now just 26 days away. Traditionally, the Saturday night of the Canoecopia weekend is also the BWCA.com member dinner. As in years past, (with the exception of 2019 due to the restaurant being shut down by a kitchen fire), the dinner will be held at Angelo's Italian Restaurant in lower level of their restaurant known as “The Grotto”. This will be the 8th year we have held the dinner at Angelo’s.
Angelo's is approximately 3.5-miles from the Reliant Energy Center - the location of Canoecopia and Clarion Suites.
Angelo’s Italian Restaurant
5801 Monona Drive
Monona, Wisconsin 53716
Aside from indulging in some great food and drinks, it's also a great occasion to socialize with other BWCA.com members and to associate some faces with names. It’s a great venue for sharing past trip adventures and other BWCA.com topics with other members. The annual dinner has spawned many canoe trip plans each year as well.
In order to make planning easier, and to give Angelo's a realistic head count, please indicate if you are attending and how many friends and/or family members will be in your party as soon as reasonably possible.
Cost:
$20.00 for those 12 and up
Children 5-12 are $10.00
Kids 5-years old and younger are free.
The aforementioned prices should cover the costs of the food, state tax, and tips. As we did in past years, any additional money collected over and above the cost of the dinner will be donated to the BWCA.com website. Dinner fees will be collected at Angelo’s the night of the dinner.
Traditionally, most members arrive around 6:30 PM, with the food being served around 7:00 PM. There is a full cash bar with a dedicated bartender for our group in the lower level as well.

Jackfish: "Debbie & I will be there. "
Better, don't you have a presentation or something to present?
I'm no big presentation attendant but for you Pete an exception may be made, you'll need a heckler in the crowd!

Ken... when I give presentations at Copia, I usually request security to keep the riff raff out. For you, my friend, I’ll make an exception, too. LOL

adam: "I am a 1 or 2 depending if my daughter is coming along."
There’s always that guy... haha.
By that time of day, I’m all but washed up so I’ll be hanging out with the old salts...haha. I do plan on being there most, if not all, day Saturday. I’d love to be there, but maybe some can meet for lunch or something somewhere. I forgot what that one place next door is called... Colosseum ?

I'll meet for lunch Ben. Any idea about what time? I'm only coming up for the day so might just arrive at lunch time.

Ben - I'd love to have lunch. I'll see you after my June trip anyway, but lunch sounds good.

Sorry to chime in so late...I will be there for sure! Still trying to figure out if one or both of my kids will join me. Hope to square that away by tomorrow.
Edit: figured it out already. Both my daughters will join me. Husband has to work. So my RSVP is:
nojobro for 3

4keys: "There will be two of us this year. Then on Tuesday, we leave to visit BlueSkiesWI in Utah. No paddling, the only wet water will be when we hike in to a hot spring. Otherwise we'll be on frozen water XC skiing and snowshoeing.
"
Our plans have changed, we are leaving for Utah a day earlier, so we will NOT be attending the dinner. Just have too much to do beforehand.

Thanks everyone for your concern and support regarding potential financial losses due to the cancellation of the bwca.com dinner at Angelo's.
Not to worry, our annual commitment to Angelo's has always been verbal. They have never required a deposit in-order to reserve "The Grotto" at Angelo's for us. I would just simply send them an email months ahead of time with the intended date and the space was ours.
After the dinner, I would pay the bill and tip from the money collected from bwca.com members prior to the dinner. Christine, (who is my contact at Angelo's), has always very accommodating. Naturally, Christine was very understanding when I contacted her about cancelling the dinner, especially given the circumstances.
It's unfortunate that Canoecopia and the dinner had to be canceled due to current events, but it is what it is. The Canoecopia weekend has often been the only chance for many of us to meet and socialize. I hope to meet up with some of you at Bob bwca's & Bonvicken's "Wing Night" later in April.
