Nice trip and report! I liked the "executive decision". Good call.

I enjoyed your report, especially the photos. Thanks for sharing.

Cherokee is my favorite place in the world, but I haven't been there in a while now. If there is one place I would like to trip to again, it would be Cherokee.

It's a gorgeous lake. Lots to explore. I need to spend some more time on the north end one of these years, but it'll probably be a few years before I get back to Cherokee. We spent two days there in 2018. Some of those island sites looked inviting and there's a nice beech on the east side next to a very poor campsite. It was fun to swim there for an afternoon.

Go Green! (Class of '97)

Thanks for the report and photos. Cherokee is one of our favorite lakes, in part because we went there based on Spartan 2's love for it and all of her wonderful trip reports and photos. We haven't been back in a few years but I think it's time to return.

We were on Cherokee in '92, '02, and 2012. A nice tradition, but we won't be going there in 2022, so that string is broken now. Our campsites were always on the south end.

There are many, many wonderful lakes in the BWCA, and I guess most people end up having to choose a favorite. I think the choice is usually influenced by something like a sunny, gorgeous day, or some experience that happened there that just resonates with the spirit. Memories are precious.

Coffeeinthewoods, you are about our son's age. He graduated from MSU in '95. We were class of '67 and '68, during the glory years of football. You may already know that we met almost 55 years ago on a Greyhound Bus with the student tour headed to the '65/'66 Rose Bowl. Have gone on three Rose Bowl trips now, and we still root for our Spartans. This year has been difficult, but when you bleed green, you just bleed green.

Twins87, you can return someday to Cherokee and say "hello" for me. :-)

I promise I will! It's hard to keep collecting favorites and we've gone to some new-to-us lakes in the last few years but a return to Cherokee is near the top of my trip lists right now. We were planning to go back two summers ago but ended up base camping on Long Island longer than planned, in part due to weather, and didn't even get in a daytrip there.
