I sent an email to Wiggys asking about their product.
their rather quick response was:

.
I think people should not support such customer service.

Who, or what, is Wiggy's?

What was your question? Not saying you are at fault in any way, but I've responded that way to a customer and they earned it. Spent three days explaining that our product was not what they were looking for, but they persisted. I believe those were the exact words of my last email to them.

I love that guidance. It is a corporate philosophy I fully support. I so hate it when big businesses keep telling me what to do.

I have a hard time judging or making a decision without everything on the table. You don't need to that and it might even be advisable to not share publicly. I'm just saying one part of the conversation isn't enough for me personally.

Also I am guessing this manufacturer is small, it could of been the owner replying and being sarcastic. Just trying to be funny, but lost on the interaction. Happens every day. The written word is tough to get nuance, tone, no laugh afterwards etc...

Could also just plainly be rude customer service. I am open to all possibilities.

Wiggys makes sleeping bags, and while they aren't a well known consumer brand, they have large military contracts. I've owned a Wiggy bag since the mid 1990s that has thousands of nights of use. A friend bought one more recently and it fell apart.
The seams of mine did start to unravel this summer. Because they come with a lifetime warranty, I contacted them and Jerry Wigatau, the owner, replied in minutes and denied the claim rudely. Despite the great bag I had, I won't give him more business. If you get a good bag, it will be great, but there are tons of reports of getting a lemon, and they don't honor their own warranty.

The guy who runs that operation is a flat out jackass; I agree that supporting him/his company is not a great idea. Had issues years ago with him when outfitting kids to go on winter BWCA camping trips. Great gear, but the guy is a wonk.

I would like to see the question verbatim to better understand the response received.

I don’t need to see the question to understand the OP’s unhappiness with it. There is an entire server farm out there dedicated solely to storing accounts of the owner’s unwarranted rudeness. The ones posted here are but a tiny fraction of the total.

Anyone wants a good laugh, reach out to Wighead and ask him what he thinks of Gore Tex. He will go mental; he cannot help it.

I too had some bad experiences with Wiggy. Rude, and a terrible return policy. I'll never buy anything from him again.

Not sure if I should chime in, but I’ve been an outside salesman at lumberyards for 37 years. Basically I deal with knuckleheads from sunrise to sunset all day every day. And demanding customers & carpenters who need this or that now! The sign you see in so many offices says - Your lack of planning should not be my emergency, something like that, but it always is.

I had one couple building a house was given to me cuz they freaked out on the first lumberyard after the 1st deck delivery. Now you are my nightmare. These people were so demanding and condescending in everything I did with them, I told them to stop harassing me and go be a jerk to someone else.

There is more to the story, but that is the moral of the story. One thing I can’t stand is people who are always trying to act smarter than you. I’m just trying to make a living, you creep, and I have done this gig for a while and seen it all. Haha. I build houses, too, so I kind of have a grip on how to order stuff, like ahead of time, not the minute you need it and it takes 5/6 weeks to get.

Go effyerself…. I do have a harder edge these days and I think I’m sticking with it.

Cheers,
scat

Reminds me of when you'd bring up smallmouth bass to TGO. :)

I once had an employee whose philosophy also was that "your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency for me". I countered that if we indeed adopted the emergency and did what we could to solve the problem, even if nothing was really our fault, our accomodating service is what would set us apart from our competition and get and retain business from those competitors. This usually proved to be true.

Granted, there were occasions where the customer was being unresonable but in most cases the harder we worked for our customer the more we were rewarded with repeat business. There were occasional barriers we were not able to overcome but was appreciated when we did not only do our best for those customers that followed the "rules".

I’m happy for ya, every biz is different. In my experience in my biz it is better to tell a pita customer who wastes your time, is condescending to salespersons, blames you for their mistakes, blah blah, to tell their story walkin. If you have to go away mad, fine with me just go away. I will devote my energy to working with people who don’t jag me around. All day every day.

I will add to this, I am in no way trying to toot my horn, I’m just a knucklehead dude battling and scrapping to get to the promised land. I build houses too, and I will not accept substandard work by any trade. You do it my way or you will do it again till it is done my way if you want to get paid. Sometimes it doesn’t pay to be a nice guy, and trying to be tactful all the time can be exhausting, This is business, plain and simple, get the job done and you get paid and we all walk away happy. Yayfknyay!
