I was thinking of renting my canoe and packs from Duane's Outfitters this year and filled out their online request form a couple of weeks ago. Hadn't gotten a response yet, so thought I'd give them a call. Numbers appear to be disconnected. I'm assuming they may have gone out of business, but I cannot confirm this online. Anybody know?

Sorry, I've never used so them I do not know. But the last time their rates were updated on their website was 2018.

I can't 100% confirm that, but it was my impression that they were out of business. Marketing emails to them and mailings tended to bounce and their building has looked increasingly vacant. It's a bummer too as they are one of the few outfitters down Babbitt direction.

In talking with Bret last year, he was winding it down.

Thanks for the responses. My first 2 trips to the BWCA with youth groups 30 years ago, which ignited my lifelong love of the BWCA, went through Duane's. Fond memories. Sorry to hear they closed up. I still have the T-shirt I bought 30 years ago!

I drive by there often and even though it looked like it was closed, I’d see they were still advertising in the BWJ. Too bad someone couldn’t continue their service.

We used Duane’s from the late 90’s through early teens. Brett and Jim were great guys. They had a great sauna we used to enjoy before showers, which were one at a time. Sorry to hear them retire.
