How do you decide how wide you need for buying fiberglass cloth? Is 30" standard width?

I buy 60 inch wide 6 oz from Northwest Canoe. Standard for that wt.
It drapes across entire hull with a couple inches extra at the center(widest of course) of the boat.

Go with 60" wide cloth.
I would never splice cloth on the outside of the canoe.

I used 60", 6 oz and purchased with my resin from Systems III.

I am no expert on cloth, but some of the companies (like SYSTEMS III) make a point of saying that their cloth is "made" for their resins.

I have no idea if cloth is created equal, but I do know that you will find many of the canoe building books "suggesting" you buy your cloth from your resin supplier.

60 wide, especially for the outside. You might be OK with 30 for the inside.
