Camera's are the best Bigfoot repellent that there is. Buy a throw away, sit it next to the fire ring and you will never ever have a Bigfoot in your campsite.

bigfeet can be found on the portage trail between home and gull lake. they have been there since the early 1980s. these bigfeet seem to have tamed a pack of local wolves, the wolves do their evil work. several people have been missing in this area over the last several decades, their remains never found. while i have not personally observed a bigfoot my old lab had a run in with one. after that experience this lab would never venture more than two feet from me when we were in the woods. true story.

Truth be known, sightings of Bigfoot in remote areas are intentional on the part of the squatch. Such sightings draw off the serious humans and render them impotent as they wander around the woods. Meanwhile, the squatch live among us, unmolested, in the dark recesses of our urban centers. When is the last time any of us stopped a large, hairy biped, in a dark alley, and asked "What species are you?" I doubt we would even ask for gender identification. It's as if we really don't want to know the truth.

All jokes aside and here I go probably alienating myself from these boards but I have to tell my story.
Up until 3 years ago did I believe in Bigfoot? Hell no. No forensic evidence, never any remains found, some hair found that has been though DNA tests by this gal in TX but apparently the findings weren't earth shattering enough to make the nightly news.
No Proof. Doesn't exist.
Then one morning I found myself on top of Scotts Bluff in Nebraska. HOT BED for BF activity!! .. I can hear you laughing through the internets (copyright George Bush).
It was 7am in the morning and for anyone that has every been up there it's a very curvy drive that takes at least 15 mins. Its probably longer and I don't remember so I'm cutting it short to remove drama.
When you arrive at the top of the bluff there is a small parking lot. Enough to hold about 20 cars. On this morning? I was the only car there.
To hike up the bluff from the base (ranger station) would have to take hours. At least 2, so either what I'm about to talk about walked up at 5am and was doing a record morning exercise program, or the person had walked up days before to camp on top of the bluff and was out for an early stroll.
In either scenario it must have been a joke that they decided to play because all that work to get to that location, they decided on the off chance that maybe, maybe ONE person would drive up to the top of the bluff and see them in their Bigfoot crafted suit.
I watched them walk perpendicular to me right to left, I said .. NO .. NO .. Im seeing things. I kept my camera in my pocket and said NO .. Im seeing things. They / it / whatever disappeared behind the trees to my left and it was over. I went to get in my car and drive down the bluff then .. it came back down the same path it had come from.
This time I said .. I'll take pictures. Actually I wanted to do a video and I messed around with that but couldn't get it to work and in a last ditch effort changed back to camera and snapped a few photos.
You can call me what ever you want. But either I have seen Bigfoot or an elaborate hoax at the top of somewhere where it makes no sense to pull a hoax.
Now .. Can I still go to wingnight before I'm kicked off the site for insanity? LOL

@ okinaw55: "But either I have seen Bigfoot or an elaborate hoax at the top of somewhere where it makes no sense to pull a hoax."
Actually, that would be one of the less elaborate hoaxes pulled on mankind. Remember Piltdown Man? How about the first crop circles? Crop circles still appear in England, mainly for the purpose of encouraging local tourism. Remember this picture, from 2008, of a supposed body of a bigfoot?

When I was in my early teens I lived in Trinity County in northern California, an area so sparsely populated that the county still does not have a single stop light to this day, 53 years later. I originally posted this account of my experience, following a hoax, six years ago. Here it is again:
"One of the more deeply imprinted memories of my lifetime comes from when I was 13 years old, living in Trinity County, of northern California. The local newspaper had just, days earlier, come out with glaring headlines about a bigfoot-like creature that had torn up a construction camp over at Willow Creek. The newspaper had devoted two full pages, interspaced with photos of equipment and 55-gallon drums that had, apparently, been tossed around as if it was nothing more than match-sticks. Footprints were also noted.
On this day, I was out by myself in the woods, as I often was at that age. I had stopped walking, for some long-forgotten reason, and was on my knees or sitting down. All of a sudden, I became aware of footsteps coming towards me through the dry leaves. The footsteps, slow and deliberate, came closer and closer and yet, I could not see the source. I was frozen, afraid to twitch, my single-shot .22 leveled in the direction of the approach. Just when I thought the creature approaching me would have to appear in front of me, the sound of crunching dry leaves stopped. Then ....nothing. I waited, getting stiff from not having moved for several minutes. I knew something was watching me from a very short distance away and I was scared stiff, my mind going back to the newspaper article of a couple of days earlier.
After several minutes of total silence, a deep cough nearly caused me to jump out my pants, but I did not move, my weapon locked at eye-level.
More time passed, although it was probably less than it seemed to me at the time. All of a sudden the footsteps began again but it only took a few moments for me to realize that they were going away, not toward me. I listened as the steps receded. When I could no longer hear them, I got up and took a few steps in the direction of home. Then, I broke into a run and kept it up. I became the distance runner I had never been before and did not stop until I approached a residential area.
I remember going into the house and telling my parents what had happened. I also remember my father turning to my mother and asking her, "have you ever heard an old doe snort?"
Having spent a great deal of time around deer since that episode, I am now very familiar with their habits and sounds. There is no doubt that I had had an encounter with a curious deer.
Today, there is a statue of a sasquatch in Willow Creek deriving from the goings-on in that construction camp. Today, I am 60 and I will never forget how that statue came to be there.
When I go into the woods today, I don't worry about Sasquatch. After all, there is probably a mountain lion watching me."
Disclaimer: I am no longer 60 years old :( and while I don't worry about encountering Bigfoot in the woods, I do worry about hairy bipeds in dark alleys.

Fun to see these old threads resurrected from time to time. I have not seen bigfoot in MN.
I lived in Washington state for several years and absolutely believe my wife and I saw a bigfoot at Tolmie State Park in Olympia, WA. So much so that I picked up our son and we ran down the trail away from it until we got back to the parking lot.

I have never seen Bigfoot, but I did see a sign on the Echo trail marking a Bigfoot Crossing, so he must be real! This was before my Solo to Stuart, and the sign was near Big Lake. Coincidence - I think not. I did not see any other people on the trip, but I did feel like I was being watched most of the time!

Frazier: "I have heard about the Whiteface Monster too and heard stories of campers waking up to finding things missing from their camps. Would love to hear if any one else had any recent accounts or sightings near the Whiteface Reservoir. "
Not recent, but I've had two instances where I felt like i was being followed and/or watched in the woods. Not just a feeling, but frequent out of place sounds just back in the woods from the river I was fishing. Happened enough times, that I just went and decided, i'm going to go ahead and pack it up and maybe find another place to fish today. One was in Brimson, quite a ways down Murphy Creek from 15/11 - this was back in the late 90's. The second was along the S. Branch of the Whiteface River off of Ryan Creek Road. That was in the early 2000's. Was it in my head? Was it just a deer? Wolf? A person? I don't know. The sounds were loud enough and at times out of place enough that I called it a day.

Interesting and entertaining thought: if a Bigfoot creature is ever captured or killed in USA, it will be listed as an Endangered Species. It’s habitat will be managed to support and increase the population. Lots of activities like hunting and timber harvesting will be reduced.

When black bears injure or lose a front paw (automobile collisions, snares, etc.) they will learn to tripod and also will learn to walk on hind legs - quite a bit. Check out YouTube for some great videos. When a bear suffers this type of trauma it will lose weight, throw it’s coat and assume a different appearance until it heals.

When I worked for the USFWS in Alaska we were already managing the habitat for the potential restoration of Big Foot/(Homo Foragious), with our prescribed burn program. Once we have confirmed sightings, all efforts will be taken to protect the habitat of these elusive creatures, so that they can be permanently protected.

Oh good Linden… I was worried they’d start being less elusive. But with the proper habitat their secret to survival will be safe with you.
Is there a course out there that teaches homo foragious habitat restoration?

Ben, here is one plan/outline we were using for our Homo Foragious restoration.
Partners for bigfoot/homo Foragious habitat restoration.
The Partners for homo foragious restores, enhances, and protects important wildlife habitats on private lands through partnerships. We work with private landowners and other partners to restore and manage wetland, forest and upland habitats to benefit Big Foot/homo foragious, and other federally listed species. The voluntary cost-share program offers a chance to regain some of Big Foots most important natural resources and builds on the strength and interest of committed individuals and organizations to accomplish shared restoration goals. Private landowners provide long-term stewardship of the land and are a key component in all successful Big Foot/homo foragious restoration projects.
Restore the habitats of federal trust species on private lands, including tribal, county and municipal lands
Restore wetlands, riparian , in-stream and native upland habitats
Remove barriers to homo foragious passage
Leverage funds and resources through efficient state, federal and private partnerships
Homo Foragious program biologists work with local landowners and other conservation partners to provide technical assistance on a broad array of restoration activities. And they help identify, assess, plan, and implement numerous restoration practices such as planting native trees and shrubs, wetland restoration, invasive species control, and wildfire resilient landscapes.
Link building homo foragious landscapes
May the rivers be crooked and winding, and your portages lonesome, leading to the most amazing view.

We were base camping on horseshoe lake spring of 2018. We were on the campsite towards the south side of the lake(2nd to last before the river). Our third day one of my friends and I were hanging out by the fire at 1 or 2 AM and we heard 3 LOUD bangs on a tree at the edge of our campsite. We both freaked out a little and decided it was best to go to bed. I don't know what else it could of been. If it was a person they have some big cahonas to come into a strangers campsite and do that. The noise sounded like a baseball bat being swung against a tree as hard as possible, very loud. And 3 very quick knocks. We didn't see or hear anything else the rest of the trip. We never told anyone else.

Pretty sure solo camping last May I may be responsible for a bigfoot sighting in the Turtle Flambeau in N WI.
Was a windy, rainy, crappy day. Decided to leave the canoe at camp and hike down the shoreline to a spot I caught fish earlier. Wild shoreline so I’m precariously positioned under some trees soaking a worm. I then see a fishing boat idling through the shallows that lead to this remote lake/bay. First people I see the whole trip…nobody would be out there in that weather. The boat starts fishing the same shoreline about 100 yards from me. They have no clue I’m there. At one point I was cramping up and needed to reposition. As I stood up I slipped on some rocks and SPLASHED into the 40 degree water. I immediately sprinted up the shoreline into the woods cold and wet. The boat motor quickly starts up and the fishermen unass the area ricky-tik. They didn't even slow down through the narrow shallows this time. I recompose myself and realize I’m wearing brown bibs and matching rain jacket. I’m also 6ft, 280 lb weightlifter.
Sometimes there’s logical explanations for these sightings.
