Just got my new to me Bell Merlin II home. Planning on paddling over the holiday.
The seller didn't know what year it was made. Is there a way to find out how old it is with the serial number on the name plate? I'm so excited, I got a Bell.

I also have a Bell (Rockstar) and love it. If you look at the serial number i believe the first two digits are the year of manufacture. hopefully someone out there can verify this. Have fun and stay safe...
Watch out for that rock!!!........ Oooo.... That's going to leave a mark...

Congratulations to you! I would love to get a Bell NorthShore. I am hoping to in a year or two.
Enjoy your "new"craft!

Congrats on your new ride. I have a Merlin II and its a fantastic solo tripper. It a little tender but the secondary stability is very good so don't let that spook you. I raised the seat on mine so I could kneel, which I prefer and which this hull is well suited for. I'm sure you will be very pleased.

Of some note for those saddened by the lack of availability of Merlin !!, DY's ninth Solo Tripper, is the arrival of his 10th, the Keewaydin 15 from Swift.
A little wider and more stable, a little more maneuverable, softened shoulders but significant, 2" side, tumblehome, and 26 lbs in the top drawer laminate.
