I enjoyed reading about the CIWC trip, and seeing your photos. The weather is a variable you can never change, and it sounds like you were very unlucky with all the rain. We had the best weather on my trip in mid-June (EP 14 to EP 16 Loop) that anybody could hope for, and the bugs did not bother us much at all. I am sold on Permethrin pretreatment of clothing. I know what you are talking about with those 70 lb. portage packs. They get pretty heavy on those long portages and give you lots of muscle aches at the end of the day. I hope the rain did not dampen the members' appeciation of the beauty of the BWCA and discourage a return visit.
