Nicely done my friend. You are totally hooked on the Quetico now, aren't you?
Can't wait to see that perdy Magic in action next year. Will you let me kick the tires? Haha.

Congratulations Jan!
Last night I told you that you were my hero.
Tonight I will tell you why.
For a man or woman to enter a true wilderness alone.....
Your only means of survival on your back....
Your transportation is primitive by today's standards and powered by you alone......
Potential dangers everywhere consisting of wind, waves, leg snapping boulder trails, body sucking mud sink holes...and of course the Bears and the Wolves....
Your only defense....Brains, Strength and Courage.
You came back fully intact and a better man than the one that left many days before.
You have now entered into a world very few have... many ask "Can I do it?" You can sit and smile say "I have done it"
Well done Jan.

Excellent report Kman. Great pictures too. Sounds like you had nice weather...a little too nice. I hear you about the warm temps. Both my trips this year (June and August) the temps were in the 80's and lotsa sunshine! Thanks for posting the report. I enjoyed it very much.

Nice! Great route. Great experience. Had you heard about "Boggy Portage" before your trip? That's the one between Unnamed and Grey. The site of my most Twilight-Zone-esque experience ever in the Q. Glad you came through it okay. Seems like the portages from Kahsh through Trant to Silence (the only part of your route I have not been on) were a lot tougher.
It was very warm up there this September, wasn't it? We came out more or less the same day you went in. We went for a swim morning and evening just about every day. If you really want to be refreshed, I recommend really getting in the water. It's awesome! (Swim shoes recommended.)

Nicely done! Sounds like you had a good experience. Great weather and some adventure thrown in.
Seems like you didn't fish any though. Also, what was your footwear? How was your packing this time? (overpack any?)

Nicely done, Jan! I enjoyed your report and your pictures. It seems you are really developing a rhythym for the solo trek- congratulations! Great report!

A most enjoyable report. Your trip sounded terrific. I have been on your route within the last year or two on different trips and had an easy time imagining the portages, lakes and campsites. The Grey Lake portage tricked me once years ago and again just 6 years ago.
We took the Trant portage you described from the other directions several weeks ago--thankfully I had read about it in a report and knew what to expect.
Your solo perspective was interesting. I went solo 35 years ago and will be going again in ten days so your comments in regard to solo travel were much appreciated.
Thanks for writing the report.

Thanks for sharing Jan! After reading your & Lisa's reports on your solos, it does make me want to do another solo next year. Maybe a little farther & longer than the one I had this year. Great pictures as well!

K, I have enjoyed this trip report more than anyone I've read for awhile. It made me want to be there, except for the nudity.
You have rekindled my desire for a solo possibly next year....thanks!

Seeking a break in my day, I thought "haven't read a BW trip report for a long time," remembered you had done a Queti-solo and how much I always enjoy your witty quips; sure enough your tr was full of them. Your attitude and sense of humor, as well as your skills really shine through in your report. Loved the descriptions of the land/lake scape, and also your descriptions of what you were thinking along the way. thanks,
Karen

Late to the party here- haven't read trip reports for a while. Yours was sooo nice!!! Made me really envious as I miss the Quetico a lot. My body won't let me trip like that any more. Glad you had the experience and that it was a good one. And, thanks for the pictures!
