I have this compass as an expensive working compass to partner with my USGI lensatic.
I like this compass because of the price mainly.
it works well. The clear base is helpful. I prefer the A-30 model ($2 more) because it has a small magnifying lens in the body of the plate which helps on some of the maps I use. I also disposed of the small lanyard clip because I found it annoying.
Perhaps I got a bad one but it didn't clip tightly enough to the compass plate. Looping the string through works just as well and far less likely to lose the compass.
