This puts the widest part of the blade near the paddler’s lowest hand and offers better control and greater power. The Modified Ottertail is Ideal for those paddlers who like a shorter blade but are looking for a little more surface area than the traditional Ottertail. The Modified Ottertail is well suited for tandem and makes a great tripping paddle for all day paddling.

I ordered one of these after breaking a bending branches Java paddle. I love how it looks and feels. I'm no expert paddler, but I love how this feels. The narrower blade allows for a fast paddling pace and easy control. It seems to wear less on you paddling over time, if that makes any sense. Great quality paddles!
