Well done! And when you talk about going against a strong wind and seeing the shore "standing still" it brings back memories for me.

I'm going in from Snowbank this year and are splurging on a tow to Perent Lake. Those big lakes can be intimidating if there's a wind up.

I spent some time on Ahsub a couple years ago and all we caught were small bass fishing from on that island. I used a depthfinder and in the deeper sections (75 feet) I saw what appeared to be very large fish suspended in about 55 feet of water. I'm assuming they were Lake Trout. We tried to jig spoons down to them but had no luck.

Hope you guys get to go more often.

Thx for the report...it brought back some great Bdub memories from a similar trip along that route in 2004.

bapabear,
Enjoyed your report. It is an area we hope to visit. I had to smile at your plans changing as we have never done a trip in the BWCA where we held to our original plan. For us we are just to ambitious in the winter, missing it all, we tend to want to do more. At the same time, and like you, the change in plans has never disappointed. As you indicate, it is a special place to be. Thanks for the great pictures as well.
