Entry Point 26 - Wood Lake

Wood Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Kawishiwi Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 13 miles. Access to Wood Lake is a 180-rod portage. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Nice report, glad your lady agreed to marry you, sounds like your starting a real long journey together. I could use my age and wisdom and tell you marriage is like a portage and how you have to work as a team ect ect, but if you haven't already figured that out your in for a tough portage ahead. Congrats. FRED

Yep, WhiteWolf, if I remember correctly that's the new MN state record pout. Caught on Lake of the Woods.


That's not me in the pic, but I think I added a photo once in a thread asking about eel pout, and there the photo remains. I like it, though, because compared to that thing, I look almost handsome. :)
