Nice report. Amelia looks like a great tripping partner. You made it out just in time.

Poor Amelia with the garter snake scare. Her eyes must widened quite a bit! hahaha! It was quick, muddy with hot condititions but you got your fix and timing was good.

I chuckled at Amelia's leap in the air. Thanks for the report. This is an area I hope to explore at some point. That would have been creepy getting back to empty parking lots...

Thanks for sharing. My Lucy can sure jump when startled too. Haven't got her out canoeing yet. Soon.

Without the bad times, the good times wouldn't seem so good.

I like that campsite on the bend in the river. Looks like you would see a moose there. Brother once had wolves come into camp while they were there. The wolves seen them and turned right around.
I would think Little isabella river has to be aweful low.

Also your first campsite I got water from the river and always used iodine pills, well the iodine pills were old and I eneded up getting Giradia there. Ever since on rivers I filter and use pills.

I use to do day trips and loop from Little Isabella thru Isabella river than up the Snake and the walk back to Little isabella. Once in a while I would get ride from someone.
That last portage is what is left of the old logging road that went all the way thru to the Spruce road by the Kawishiwi river.

Just before you get to Isabella river, I was paddling back up the Little isabella (this time) river the day of the Pagami fire and a big bull moose was laying in the water. I got about 20 yards from it,than it slowly got up and left.

I thought that whole area looked real moosey, but no luck. And I always filter my water, not interested in giardia at all! Little Isabella was very low....that was a long slow slog.

Yes I have been down the Little Isabella when water is high and you still don't have a lot to spare. I bet the bottom half was shallow and maybe full of rice?

More than just the bottom half! The whole thing was seriously shallow. You could paddle a little just before a beaver dam, but that's about it.

Good report. I'm glad that you were able to get through the Snake! Great characterization of the "little bear" :)
