Trip Introduction:
10 Beaver Dams

Report

We just completed our trip and wanted to add a few details. The entry point has 10 beaver dams, and a new one was under construction. Outfitters will not rent Kevlar canoes going through this entry point, only the heavy royalex style canoes. If you plan to go out through Magnetic Lake, there is a 100 rod portage. We had one rented canoe so we opted to go back out through larch creek to avoid the additional portages needed to take the loop route. As you enter Larch lake, stay left for deeper water and a little less weed/lily pad drag on the bottom of your canoe. The island campsite on Larch is roomy. The water is murky, best to have a coffee filter rubber banded to the intake of your water filter yo prevent it from getting clogged. Small northerns and a few walleye around 11 inches caught, nothing worth cleaning and eating.
