Entry Point 27 - Snowbank Lake

Snowbank Lake entry point allows overnight paddle or motor (25 HP max). This entry point is supported by Kawishiwi Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 24 miles. Access is a boat landing or canoe launch at Snowbank Lake. Many trip options for paddlers. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

I also found this route more crowded than on 2 other previous trips. We always could find a campsite, but I was a little worried a couple of times.

I would rather get away from the crowds if all possible. We usually travel in a ways to avoid the camp site issue. Nice trip report.

You may want to try the Quetico next time. My wife and I were there last week with little difficulty with crowds. The only time we felt a bit crowded was on the international border at Curtain Falls. There was a youth group of 9 with 3 canoes.
