Sounds like a nice trip all-in-all, Jackfish. That Alworth seems a pretty nice lake for one I've not heard of much.

What a great report! Had me smiling with every word. Great pics of you and Debbie, too. Most definitely a trip that the two of you will remember and cherish for many years.

Thanks!

We all have to believe in something. I believe I'll go paddle.

Nice report! Sounds like a good time was had by all, even with a few missteps along the way.

That site on Ahsub lake is very nice. Not sure what the deal is regarding fishing that lake. I believe it is still a designated trout lake (brook trout)??? But, I've also seen a page on the MN DNR site that has deleted it from the list. I can say the last couple of times I've been there I only caught small bass. So who knows???

Thanks for taking the time to share your story & photos. BTW thought the 2 logs holding up the rock wall was particularly cool beans. :)

Glad you had a good trip, Pete! Looks like you guys had a couple of great campsites.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. It was a dandy trip. Jerry, I figured you'd get a big smile when you read that one line. :)

And Sheryl, that loon pic with the spread wings was awesome. I had the loon in my view finder preparing to just take a few shots of it on the water, when all of a sudden, she spread her wings like that. I had a lot of zoom and she caught me off guard a little bit so the photo didn't turn out quite as clear as I would have liked, but it's still a pretty cool (and fortunate) shot.

Thanks to all for the comments. We really had a nice trip, compounded, of course, by the beautiful weather. We'll be going again.

Glad you guys have a good trip. We had a similar experience to your first day on the last day of our BW trip with the Spartans - encountering lots of filled campsites in the mid-afternoon. It's something that's hard to adjust to when you are used to Quetico. Fortunately, for us, as for you, we eventually found an open site, and had a great trip.

I love that site between Ima and Alworth. We saw many loons in that area in 2007. The narrows between Jordan and Ima are a neat place to paddle. Thanks for sharing.

Nice report and nice pics. Love it when the loons do that, I'm never lucky enough to get a pic at just the right time like that!
