Entry Point 19 - Stuart River

Stuart River entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Kawishiwi Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 28 miles. Access is a 480-rod portage to the Stuart River.

About 6 months in the planning, 8 people volunteered and all 8 saw it through.

Just a quick report to say that we had a successful portage clearing trip in the Shell Lake area. All types of weather including heat, cold, rain and snow, and lots of wind.

Tools used... 6 Fiskars Pruning Stiks (these were used lots and lots) 4 Irwin 15" saws 1 46" crosscut saw 1 Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe

Portages that we cleaned up... EP14/LIS river north, Elm portage, U. Pauness/L. Pauness both the 9r and the 40r,  L. Pauness/Shell, Devils Cascade, Shell/Heritage, Heritage/E. Loon Bay, Shell/L. Shell, Lynx/Agawato, Lynx/Heritage, Lynx/Ruby.

We also carried in 2 new fire grates for replacement.
