OCDave: "Newer to this site and learning a lot. I am a maturing backpacker looking forward to my first canoe trip through the BWCA in 2018.
Happy New Year everybody!"
Happy you're here, Dave! As a former backpacker, I assure you that canoeing is considerably easier. When I backpacked, water was always an issue: How much did I dare lug? Where was the next water?
But when you canoe, not only are floating on drinking water, but it cools you. Ahhh!
I will paddle eternal, Kevlar and carbon.

Happy New Adventures!
Here's a pic from a first for my bride and me: a BWCAW trip for just the two of us... After 40 years, no church youth group or men's group or women's group to organize, no other family along (altho those were fun, too)...

Linden's here and back from Alaska.
Will do 2-3 trips this year I hope, not sure where or when, planning on winging it now that I'm retired.

Still hiking and paddling! Another visit to the BW in September along with plans to hike the Milburn Trail in New Zealand.

Still around. Made a trip back to Menasha this past summer to attend my 50th class reunion. Then on to the BW for a 5 day solo trip. On to Portland Oregon for a week and then back home. Gone a month and drove 6000 miles. Great time! Doesn't look like I'll make it back this next summer. Everyone enjoy the new year!

Fun times. I wish we had a trip planned this year. Really liked the 8 days in Quetico trip last year. It always seems like its a long way away when we start planning, then it's over before you know it.

Still here lurking... busier this past year so less than I used to but it's still my happy place on the internet! Planning at least a couple of trips this summer, tackling Big Sag for the first time in late July. Excited to see new lakes and thrilled to be sharing the trip with a fellow BWCA.com-er who has become one of my best friends.
This is from my July 2017 Lady Chain trip with hubby. Landing at our first campsite on Polly on what turned out to be one of my favorite trips ever.
Happy New Year one and all!

Hopefully making my second and third trips this year! Aiming for the border lakes in late July, and another trip before or after back to EP 47 with our oldest child. Timing all depends on when my BWCA "souvenir" decides to make its way into the world. :D

Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming! Suddenly solo. Trying to crawl my way thru the muck to find the beauty in this world & the sun on my back so I can stretch my neck out with joy. Alive, kicking & determined to keep tripping...

Here,
Had a custom 1000 piece puzzle made for my family to put together at Christmas. A picture my brother took on Gordon on our trip this year.
I was only home a few days. Just got the text yesterday weeks later that they finally finished it.
I think I enjoyed the joke more than they did!

I love this site-so many great folks here. Doing another trip to Vermillion this year. It is a great fishing lake but pales in comparison to our boundary waters trips. Hopefully after I get my other knee replaced I will be back!

Still here and working on my 2018 resolutions. #1 to find more things to be fearful of and #2 to say thank you more often.
Damn you (I mean thank you) Mother Nature for dumping 30" of snow on Cleveland Montana the day before I showed up to pheasant hunt and thank you for the three 40+ degree days I was there to melt it!

I am fortunate enough to get two trips on my agenda this year.
1) My 16 yr old son and I are contemplating a Q trip this year or maybe Basswood Falls via Mudro EP 23 - not sure yet.
2) My 9 year old daughter will get her maiden overnight BWCA voyage this year too. Not sure which EP and/or lake, but twill be memorable nevertheless.

Planning a solo trip, probably mid to late May--after fishing opener weekend for sure. Hoping for an easy trip with my wife later this year. She loves September in the BWCAW.

Hi AtwaterGA, how could I learn more about your awesome Quetico camp? Love to see more pics of cabin.

Still here most the time in lurk mode. I had a good 9-day trip with my son during the first week of June 2017. I am not sure what will happen this year. I turned 70 in December (hated that milestone) and a trip this year is badly needed to boost my morale.

Just pulled an EP 54 permit last night for entry on 8/13. Back to where it all began 10 years ago, or at least the first & last few miles. Going to do the short loop from Sea Gull to Red Rock & out on Sea Gull via Gull River. It will be me + my two youngest, one of which went to the BWCA in 2016 up the Granite River. A request was made for blueberry opportunities, so we'll see what we can come up with over a week up there.
