Moose/Portage River (north) entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by La Croix Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 27 miles. Access is a 160-rod portage heading North from the Echo Trail.

Just to clarify for any who don't know:
The distance from the Tofte Ranger Station to the Isabella Lake Entry Point is 21 miles only if you're flapping your arms really hard and there's a breeze from the north providing sufficient lift. Otherwise it's a forty-mile drive:
