Entry Point 54 - Seagull Lake

Seagull Lake entry point allows overnight paddle or motor (10 HP (except where paddle only) max). This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 50 miles. No motors (use or possession) west of Three Mile Island. Large lake with several campsites. landing at Seagull Lake. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Thanks for writing this up.


It was unexpected that the cloud server outage affected outfitters up there.


I'm glad you got into some fish and were able to have fish dinner. The snapping turtles have a well deserved reputation for taking fish off a stringer.

The big problem with the cloud server issue and our outfitter was that a good number of their clients had to quickly change their travel plans due to cancelled flights, missed connections, etc. In the resulting scramble of changes at the outfitter, something with our accommodations got changed as well when it should have remained the same.

Very nice read, thanks. I took this route the opposite direction putting in on Seagull and taking out there as well (no tow on Sag as we just skimmed the south shore). It was a great trip with wonderful scenery and minimal portaging.




We all have to believe in something. I believe I'll go paddle.
