Entry Point 47 - Lizz & Swamp Lakes
Lizz and Swamp Lakes entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 34 miles. Access from Poplar Lake by 51-rod portage to Lizz Lake and 100-rod portage into Swamp Lake only. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Trip Introduction:
This trip was a repeat of the 2020 trip completed in September if 2020. To fully celebrate the Arthur H. Carhart 1921 trip, we canoed the route in June as did Carhart.
The route starts and ends at Farm Lake. Lakes traveled are Kawishiwi River, Lakes 1-4, Hudson, Insula, Alice, Fishdance, Malberg, Koma, Polly, Kawishiwi, Perent, Perent River, Isabella, Isabella River, Bald Eagle, Gabbro, Clear Lake.
Addendum - two of us continued on Carhart's other 1921 paddle trips visiting Lac Lacroix (July 2-13) and Saganaga/Seagull (July 19-22). Carhart's Recreation Report was submitted in 1922; another paddle trip to celebrate that event will be planned for 2022.
