Excellent report and fun to read. Even after 40+ trips, stuff happens and I'm still learning new things almost every trip. The importance of a list cannot be overstated.

Sounds like you had a great trip to me. The brook trout alone would've made it worth it for me. Nice fish! I don't believe there is much (if any?) natural reproduction of brook trout in the BWCA? All the fish are stocked by the DNR.

Thanks for taking the time to share your story & photos. Catchy title for your report too. :)

Is a pillow a man-card item? Help a gal out.

;-)

I personally love my pillow. Ha ha.

Great report...enjoyable read. Thanks!!!

Why is that? Habitat issue?

I love my pillow too. I just hid it better. I have a medium thermarest that packs a lot smaller than a regular pillow:)

Yeah. They need running water that is the proper temperature to spawn. Most of the lakes stocked up there don't have that.

Sounds like fun, a rather large brook trout.

My favorite new line for trips will now be...

“If you don’t paddle we are gonna die!”

I am a great fan of lists and always use one but end up writing myself notes on each trip of things I wish I had thought to bring. So I guess my lists are not fool proof!

"...wishing the whole time I was soaking wet under a tarp, in a wind storm, slipping ‘um from shore, drinking low-proof booze, smoking shitty cigars, laughing with my friends."

That pretty much says it all RGR! Great report and wonderful photos. Thanks!

Oh...a regular pillow. I see. Yeah, one must have a packable pillow, not a regular one.

On my recent solo, I took a full size memory foam pillow with me. It weighed quite a bit, but I could squish it down so small! It was fantastic having it--it was worth the weight.

That was a hilarious report. When we go on a trip with a newbie, we check their gear a week before departure. Always entertaining to see what others will bring (or forget). Glad you had a good time and found others to go with you.

Nice Report. I enjoy going up with Bdub newbies,(sometimes) it is interesting how they act the first day or so. (can they handle it) But yes lists are very important to me as well. I still have the original list I made 8 years ago and every year I get back from my 7 day trip something is either add or taking off. Its starting to get a little mess though maybe time for a new one. A good light solid boat is always a bonus when doing a loop.

nice catch you got there! I'm so jealous i didn't get a trout a big as that during my first fishing trip! I'm quite frustrated with my catch actually because when i was a kid my dad used to bring me fishing but i only got to watch him do the fishing and he always gets the big fish! will plan my next fishing trip soon! hope i could get a big fish as well! more power!
