Thanks, I really enjoyed your report. I too thought the 140-rod portage between Mudro and Fourtown was beautiful. I was there on a lovely late September day and the foliage was gorgeous.

Well written trip report! I actually got choked-up a bit(seriously!) as I read it, thinking about what an awesome experience you were having. I've been that route as well and Boot Lake is where I also had my only wolf encounter in the BWCA. We were not lucky enough to see them but did hear them howling to each other for about an hour. Congrats on a great adventure!
