Entry Point 50 - Cross Bay Lake

Cross Bay Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 45 miles. Access is thru the Cross River with two portages to Ham Lake and a 24-rod portage to Cross Bay Lake. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Report


We took a trip with six of us this past June. We had a great campsite on Alpine Lake. Took us about 3 hours to get out there and we stayed for five days. It was pretty cold most nights but it was worth it because there were zero bugs. Fishing was incredible. We caught countless smallmouth and got into some walleye and northerns as well. Here's a video I put together of the highlights of the trip!
