Entry Point 52 - Brant Lake

Brant Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 45 miles. Access is a canoe landing at Round Lake with an 85- and a 35-rod portage to Brant Lake. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Red Rock Lake Trip

- 6 paddlers in 3 Canoes - Campsite #411 (Acceptable site, good locations for 3 tents) - Tow-in service by VCO to portage onto Red Rock Lake - Bunkhouse and breakfast at VCO before the trip - Group decided to basecamp rather than switching campsites - Fishing limited to Bass and Pike, no Walleye were caugh - Water levels were up and there was a lot of "cotton" on the surface from the trees - Weather was nice for June...nights were chilly and days were sunny - Mosquitos were out but not black flies
