Route - Hanson or Cherry lake base camp
Routes
We took a tow out to American point to avoid about 8 miles of paddling in a large open motorized body of water. From American point we continued along the Canadian border into Swamp - ottertrack - Ester and paddle into Hansen. The only difficult portage is from ottertrack to ester. You can continue on to Cherry but the portage is very difficult. This makes a nice daytrip from Hansen to view the cliffs on cherry. Other daytrip ideas into Gift - link and fish lakes for some northern fishing, into the south arm of Knife which will take you past Hanson falls, into Clam and Canoe lakes if you like to explore small lakes off the beaten path.
