Grouse and Beaver T.V Oct 2026
Report
Entering in on lake one was easy and great weather. We entered on a Friday at midday, to our surprise a large crowd and almost no parking was available. Water level was low the goal was to search lake 2 for a camp site but everything that was worth camping on was taken pushing us into lake 3 and landing on a site just before dark. The site we landed on turned out to be gem with decent wind break good tarp set up options a nice pad for the tent and view offering sunrise and set along with easy canoe landing. The nights where chilly low temps in the mid 30s but ver manageable firewood was always plentiful if your willing to search a little. We got absolutely blessed with what we called beaver T.V. about 5 beavers creating a winter lodge turned out to be the best neighbors you could ask for very entertaining even stumbling upon one accidentally resulting in what felt like a 20min stair down at few ft away from each-other eventually they went about there business and we enjoyed each-others company. we packed food efficiently for 5 days but not excessively intentially forcing to rely on some fish or grouse to have a more satisfying calorie intake. we couldn't find walleye but after we figured out the bounty of grouse to be had we quickly transitioned into spending our days on the adventure or chasing grouse the opportunities are there you just gotta look and it opened up the BWCA in a new way to us showing us parts we would have never found and like the BWCA always does providing even more ideas and adventures for the following years. We harvested 10 grouse total and ate like kings. navigating the narrows was difficult and the maps deceiving as most narrow spots could not be crossed, we had to be care full even in wide open water we found a rock at a nice clip in the center of wide open water on lake 1 totally unexpected and could have been a trip wrecker.~Lake One, Lake Two
