Drove the Jeep up to Tuscarora Lodge for a night in the Bunkhouse on Father's Day. Was loaned a solo canoe that I picked up in Grand Marais. Even got to sit and watch the Formula 1 Race while sitting in my Bunkhouse. Got up early and piddled about, had a fantastic French Toast breakfast at the lodge and got on my way. The day I made camp on Gillis Lake there were lots of floatplanes taking off and coming back and taking off. Then a chopper came in early eve and dropped off a large net. (all on my video P.2) It had a rubber Zodiac raft in it. So I knew something unfortunate was happening. Ended up hearing the next day of the 18 year old drowning in the bay on Gillis going to Fern Lake. Tragic. It was a week of brilliant sunshine, wind and warmth. Then chill, rain and wind. Glad I packed the warm stuff I was second guessing. Had to improvise some fixes with a broken canoe yoke. Boy Scouts prepared me! Whooooo Buddy)))) Shug
