Excellent report!

That is a challenging BWCAW route by anyone's standards. More than just tolerable, you & the girls made it sound like great fun. You all should have a great sense of accomplishment for doing so. The grouse drumming story is definitely one for the ages!

It was a special treat to have been able to meet up with you & the 3 B's at Trail Center with mocha before our trips. And, of course, it was very neat to finally hear exactly how your trip went.

Thanks for taking the time to share your story & photos. Now that you've got this one (trip report) under your belt, I'll expect to see one every year. :)

Awesome family trip! So many smiles. And loved the pics, especially the turtle and closeup of the caterpiller.

Enjoyed it very much, thanks for posting.

Question - Do you guys ever get afraid out there? Bears and wolves?

GREAT trip report! I've done some of those lakes, but never tackled that long portage out of Poplar. BTW, beware of climbing up to Tremble Lake out of Winchell. I used to have a little book written back in the '70's about a couple and their BWCAW trips. Can't remember the name at the moment. But, he actually became trapped near Tremble when the loose rocks trapped him. He may very well have died out there if not for the fact that his daughter and her husband were with them on that trip and they finally found him. He had to be flown out and almost died.

Thanks for sharing your trip!

Awesome report! Thanks for sharing.

I've been to parts of your trip and loved seeing them from your perspective. Skipper to basecamp on Banadad. Lizz to basecamp on Gaskin with daytrips to Winchell, Omega and the small lakes north of Gaskin. I also did a daddy/daughter trip w/ my 7year old from Lizz to basecamp on Caribou at the same time you were on your trip. In fact we played a lot of Uno in the tent the same day you were on Winchell during the big storm. I'm looking forward to longer trips with my girls when they get older.

Thanks for the trip report and pictures. I've looked at going through Rush and Banadad and on over to Long Island. I did go across from Long Island to Omega; I had less water below the beaver dam, but just as many rocks ;). A pretty ambitious trip for you and your girls - I'll bet you enjoyed it.

I want to say this is a cute trip report but I know it was not just a "cute" trip. My wife and I did this general trip on our very first BWCA adventure so we both really enjoyed the report and your cute family.

Wow what a great report. I really liked the picture of the sock dryer, the look on the face of the other twin is simply priceless. I have to applaud B1 when she fell off the log, saved her food. A group of beauties for sure. Thanks much for the report and keep them coming, great pictures. When I take my 3 sons with me they are concerned about my health too but deep down I think they know that if Im not there they will have to cook for themselves, HA_HA FRED

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fourtune to remember the ones do, and the eyesight to tell the differance.

I loved this report! That sock dryer trick is genius!

I always think of you 4 as our doppelgängers (non malevolent of course) so it is such fun to read about your adventures... and inspiring too!

Glad your thoughts are in a good way!

I'm sure the report would be just as good with 3 boys and a mom! ; )

Awesome trip and great report, thanks for letting us "go along", in pictures and thru the report! It is truly amazing all the things you see and experience in the wilderness, and wonderful to share with your kids. Memories burnt into their minds and yours, to cherish forever.

I stumbled upon this old trip report of yours by chance while looking for inspiration for my next solo. What a challenging trip and a fun write up about your adventures! Fun to see your girls and hard to believe 10 years later you are a grandma.
