quote fitgers1: "We were up until almost one in the morning filling packs and getting the food ready.

Go to bed late. Wake up late. Leave later than planned. No worries. We are on vacation."

This describes just about every trip I've done. :P

Sounds like a great trip!

Nice, Fitgers, thanks!

Nothing better than seeing your companion enjoy what you love.

We all have to believe in something. I believe I'll go paddle.

Excellent trip report - hopefully this was the first of many more trips for Kelly!

Awesome report! Very amusing.

Just one thing, for Kelly...YES, I say you CAN bring a pillow! Tell him to shove it and bring one. ;-) I have a Thermarest pillow. The small one is fine. We have two smalls and two mediums, and I prefer the small; it fits into the hood of my mummy bag better than the medium one. There are many other fine camping pillows, too.

My kids would have liked a fly swatter. I should add that to the gear list.

Very nice trip report. The Baker Lake EP is quite nice. I'm glad your wife enjoyed the trip.

The ranger you spoke of at Tofte was most likely Paulette. She remembers many people not just by face, but actually by name. Great lady, full of lots of information.

Very nice report fitgers. The planning packing part was indeed funny. Your tributes to Amok were heart warming. Kelly's conversion from "mouse bouncer" to "mouse misser" was enjoyable to read. Great description of the area. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'll have to let her find a camp pillow for next trip. I just might have a fly swatter as well.
I looked but couldn't find how to enter the trip report contest. Is every trip report for a month automatically in the running? Some pictures from the trip are in my photos.

Completely forgot to add that the morning we were packing up we heard two gunshots. They were about 15 - 30 seconds apart. Sounded like a .22 LR. It came from the direction of the campsite on the point but I think it may have been closer, like on the bay to the north of the point.

I read your trip report; very well done and I got to the point where you referenced sharing it with Amok and I needed to read no further. I felt Amok's presence last week up there as well. I'm sure the rest of your report was as awesome as the first half. Sounds like you found your paddle buddy for life! GOOD JOB.

Was it too long?

Nice report, I'd like to try that area sometime. The moose sighting on her first trip will always be special. Thanks for introducing someone to the BWCA, that will always be special for you.

Jeff, just read your trip report. Great job. Loved it. My hubby & I both laughed about the mouse. But we really liked this comment:

"I really need to get rid of that camouflage rope and get a brighter one..."

Had to chuckle. We have found several ropes in campsites that we've stayed at or visited that were dark colors and left behind.

Last year we found a yellow nylon rope all wrapped up but still forgotten at a campsite. It has become our favorite rope for hanging our pack as it slides easily over the tree branches.

BTW I did not think your report was too long! Thanks for sharing!

Great read Fitgers. No such thing as a too long report. Sounds like you found a keeper. Congratulations!

Just re-read this. As I read through the report it came to an abrupt ending. The last half or so of the report is now missing. Not there at all. I tried to add that info to the report and I can't.
Was there a character limit added to the reports when the site clean-up was done a couple months ago?? Pretty sad about this. I'll try adding the missing part later.
I know it was all there at one time. Some of the comments prove that.

Bummer!

I believe the same thing happened to one of analyzers' reports? If I remember right.... I believe Adam said that reports that were written as one long report versus a day by day/part by part were the text that could possibly be affected by the changes you refer to.

Hope your are able to put it back together again.
