Entry Point 30 - Lake One

Lake One entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Kawishiwi Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 21 miles. Access is a canoe landing at Lake One.

Thanks for sharing. Don't think I've ever had a trip that was rain free. I appreciate "lesson learned" comments after trip reports.

I can not think of 3 portages from Insula to Alice. Just 1 short one and paddle up the river. Our trip was in May so maybe the water was higher or did you go through Lake Carol?

It's too bad that Muddyfeet didn't know about it but about 200 or so yards west off his campsite on Alice is a reef that comes to within about 3 to 4 feet of the surface. Trolling around that at different depths has caught me many northern pike, walleyes and smallmouth. There is a second reef to the north that is equally as good, and a few more on the south and west sides. Some are hard to find without a depth finder, some you find as you troll above them and just can't keep the darn fish off your lure.
