Video... if you are mostly interested in fishing - our "highlights" are about the 10 min mark.

Looks like a nice trip, despite the eventful beginning and weather.

2 gear questions;

What grill mat are you using over the fire? Do you have to be careful with the fire intensity when using it?

What net are you using? It looks legit, but wondering how small it collapses down, it would be nice to have a net long enough to reach both the bow and stern paddlers.

It's a pretty cheapo copper mat off Amazon. Yes you do have to be a little worried about it being too hot, the packaging says up to 500 degrees. I have read other professional cooks who say 400 degrees is probably the max you should do on any Teflon/non-stick surface. Under most fires we probably would have had it off to the side a little more and getting less direct flame - but the wet weather made getting a really hot fire going very difficult. They work really slick though.

It is a Stowmaster net... It was sort of our trip running joke because this one was TOO BIG. They make multiple sizes of it and I had went to Marine General a couple days before the trip to get the Mr. Walleye version of this net. Well they only had the next size up and I was waffling, but the sales guy offered me 10% off, SOLD! I knew it was a mistake the second I swiped the credit card. Long story but if you can get the size below this one it would be perfect. Definitely pricey - I know you can find it a lot cheaper than the link below though (maybe even get the 10% off at MG if you look like an easy mark :) .)

Thanks for the info. Thought the net looked big, but I bet is was handy to have along.
