Great trip report and I enjoyed the photos. We went in at Sawbill a little while later and had exactly the opposite weather--guess I am glad we went when we did! But I would have enjoyed seeing the eagles and the pelicans.

Outstanding photography! Sorry the weather didn't cooperate for you, but it's great being in the BW no matter what the weather is like. My trip was a week later, and we didn't have a drop of rain. Some trips are better than others! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks,

it was an "ok" trip overall for lots of reasons, but thanks to this trip, I went back solo a few weeks later and had great weather and one of the most fun and rewarding trips of my life.

Great report brad - enjoyed the photos. I have one of that alton lake entry as well :) Too bad about the weather - sucks to be wet and cold.

Thanks for sharing!

Brad,

Nice report. We were at the north end of Sawbill the same time. It was pretty miserable in the evenings, we were usually in bed by 8:00 because of the rain, cold, and dark. We did get out during the day and catch some fish though. Good to hear you got back there again later.

Seems counterintuitive, but we always try to travel in the rain assuming it isn't a violent storm. Day long naps are boring.

Nice report - thanks.

Great report and even better photo's. Wow! What kinda camera did you use? Can't wait to get back to Sawbill again in June.

Joy is a great teacher, but so is dispair. Wonder is a great teacher, but so is confusion. Hope is a great teacher, but so is disillusionment. And life is a great teacher, but so is death. To deny yourself any of those in any aspect is not experiencing life totally.

thanks DCM. :) I use only the best photography equipment...

ok, not really. It's a tiny beat up old cheap point and shoot camera that's dinged up from bouncing around while hanging from my neck on many portages and hiking trips. I've even taken it underwater with me after flipping a canoe a while back which killed it for a bit, but it still works now. :)

I'm looking at getting something closer to a real camera soon.

Really enjoyed the report, especially when the UFO showed up and you went to check it out...was actually wandering what it was, sorry it wasn't an alien. Anyway, I can relate to the Water World time frame for as you were headed West out of Sawbill we Headed North to Cherokee and around the Temperance Loup. We had evening rains, no day time rain until last day. Amazing how testy and short people get when they are tired of "WET". Anyway, nice report.

I'll be entering at EP 38 this year. I hope my photos turn out half as good as yours. Sorry to hear about all your rain. My last few years tripping have been fairly dry so I'm nervous about the law of averages this year!

Was the old photo taken by you from the trip 20 years earlier?
