Sounds like a great trip with just the right amount of everything. I liked the idea of the hike to paddle (and vice versa), not many places to make that work

I haven’t hiked the pow wow or paddled the “Back lakes” since before the fire. Your well written report has me thinking it’s time to return for a first hand look at this area again. Thanks

Great report! I usually try to pick an entry with a hiking trail, breaks the days up a little bit having a day trip up a trail.

Great report. Not sure I'd be brave enough to go with guys I didn't know at all beforehand. Glad it worked out for you!

Great report and thanks for sharing.

I really like the 1/2 paddle and 1/2 hike then switch in the middle day trip that you did. That’s genius. I’m never in a group big enough to steal your idea though because all of my trips are either solo or tandem with one of my kids LOL.

My last few solo trips have incorporated a destination where I can also get some hiking in and I really enjoy doing that. On my April solo this year I entered at Lake One with plans to camp on an island on the southern part of Lake Three like you did so I could hike on the POW Wow trail, but nasty winds and ice cold water a few days after ice out had me pull up and camp on Lake One. It worked out just fine as I still had Lake One all to myself.

After reading your report I’m considering going back to Lake One EP and camping on Lake Three so I can do my PowWow hiking I missed out on instead of going to a new EP like I originally planned.

Great report! I have stayed at that island site a couple times now and it is a great place, I travel with kids so it is nice that they have free roam of th island and I know where they are at all times.
