quote pdesigninc: "It's quite a pretty area and hope to return to venture further into Brule Lake under less smoky and windy conditions. The water also seemed quite clear, wondering if because nothing had stirred up the bottom and has been so dry for some time. I noticed a couple of you mentioned kids, at what age do you think it's fairly safe to bring kids and what are some recommended entries?" like canoe212 said, check out/add the forum on canoeing with kids. Some wait until kids can really paddle, others start them as infants (as did I). LOTS of places are appropriate for a trip with a kiddo (or 3 in my case).
Glad you made it out - WOW.

Glad you made it out safely. Certainly a once in a lifetime experience and something to tell your grandkids!

Thanks for the report. I am glad you made it out safe. That thunderstorm must have been bizarre! I got smoked out Saturday night on Lake Four and again Monday morning on Lake One.

Check out the private group canoeing with kids. I took my daughter for the first time in Sawbill when she was 9.

Can't even imagine being in something like that. Glad to see you made it out alive and well. I hope your next trip is a bit more peaceful and uneventful.

Thats a pretty nice area isn't it. My son and I made that same trip, minus the smoke of course.
