We set off with hopes of getting to Vista, but stopped on Little Trout Lake. We camped on the island. We had 4 in our group, 2 to a canoe. We had no idea what we were in for with the portages. I remember one being straight up and straight down. This was out first portage experience, the year prior we camped on the lake our entry point was on. Anyway, we were so happy on Little Trout, we had decent success catching trout, we made for one of the best breakfasts I have ever had! We also had an incredible steak dinner our first night, which was one of the best rewards after our hike and paddle in! Our island campsite had room for 3 tents, and great hammock spots. You could see the lake from the fire pit, but had better views if you walked towards the water. We swam right off the rock, which was also refreshing and a blast. Landing wasn't too bad. We made our way back for our last night and stayed on Ram Lake, we got hit by a storm and were pretty gassed when we set up camp, I barely remember what it was like, but I do know it wasn't awful, we mostly wanted to tackle the big beast of a portage and just sleep for tha night. And good thing we did because we made our last portage to the entry point right as another storm started! I can't wait to go back to this spot some day, and finish our trek to Vista as well! I highly recommend this portage/ entry point/ campsite on Little Trout. those that are super experienced portagers, might even find this easy :)
