I also enjoyed your trip report.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice report. Glad to see someone else is as irritated by unnecessary cairn building as I am. Hopefully it was just some bored kids. It beats the alternative kid activity; throwing every available rock on shore into the lake.

"I didn't particularly want someone around me to talk to, but I did want someone around me I could ignore." :-) The picture at the ending.......nice!

This probably one of the best trip reports I’ve read in a long time. I have a great efinity for intelligent people who still value snark. Great random details that kept everything interesting.

“perseverate”...what a great and appropriate word for what you were describing. I suffer from the same thing when soloing which is why I barely even fish any more. Gotta keep moving!

Great report and I hope there will be one for your October trip.

Thanks. I'll definitely have another recap for the next one. I did see that someone apparently did some cleanup of my trip report -- there was one parenthetical in there cursing at someone's name (e.g. John D.) for them carving it into a log. So next time I'll make sure to not have any f-bombs. :)

Excellent trip report. I liked your thoughts as you passed the group portaging a hard-sided cooler. "You do you, as long as you leave no trace."

Loved it. I have come very, very close to the inattentive dunking in my solo, but have so far been spared (which I credit to carrying much of my body weight below the waist :). The escape from work worries definitely resonated.
