Entry Point 69 - John Lake

John Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 69 miles. Access from Little John Lake. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Nice report! I have a buddy whose parents have a cabin on Nym so I've been up there many times. Sounds like you did well fishing on Batchewaung, it's usually a size game more than a numbers game - we've had days where we've seen giant small mouth hanging around boulders that had zero interest in anything we threw at them.


Beautiful area. A decent paddle & one portage away is McAlpine lake, which is also beautiful (& has great fishing).
