Entry Point 31 - Farm Lake

Farm Lake entry point allows overnight paddle or motor (25 HP max). This entry point is supported by Kawishiwi Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 7 miles. Access is a boat landing on Farm Lake with access to South Farm Lake. Paddlers access North Kawishiwi River from Farm Lake. Some trip options available for paddlers with additional portages.

Thanks forthe report. Sounds like a successful trip. Heading to the exact same area in 2 weeks with my adult son. I can totally relate to the scary rocks and rapids. I was the same way when I was that age. My brothers still tease me from time to time. I was planning on the exact route you did.

Nice report. Hopefully your son lost his fear of rocks after all the travel you did. I live a few miles from Snake River/ St. Croix. Hopefully it was low water when you paddled upriver to the campground. I've kayaked the river in May in high water and unbelievable never saw a single rock the 7 miles to the St. Croix! Enjoy all your future trips and thanks for teaching your children to love the BWCA.
