Thanks for the report! Many of your observations from your first solo have a familiar ring to an old soloist ;). All in all it sounded like it went well.

Robert,

Congratulations! I missed the part that you were only 16 up until the last paragraph. I am thoroughly impressed. Way to go! You should be extremely proud of your accomplishment. I wish you the very best on future trips. I hope that you will post reports on them.

Robert,

I forgot to say you'll find the intimidation factor fades, but the meditative factor deepens. I've also found that simplifying gear, camp chores, and food prep is preferable for me.

Robert,

I'm so impressed that you decided to do a solo trip at 16!

I'll echo ducks....Well done!!

boonie is completely on point as well. Efficiency, confidence, and an overall sense of contentment will grow with each trip.

There are many paddle trips in the bwca, Quetico, and around the world to experience.

Keep it up man!!

Really enjoyed that, especially your summations. What everyone else here said about your accomplishments. Great job and thanks for posting!

We all have to believe in something. I believe I'll go paddle.

Well done indeed. Sounds like your parents trust is well placed. One lesson you didn't learn is what fine thieves turtles and especially otters are! Having fish still on the stinger in the morning sometimes doesn't work out so well.

That's pretty impressive to say the least. Great report! Them walleye are far more tasty then a smally. :)

I think it's great that you've started to do this at a young age. I wished I'd thought of doing it at 16. As you know you learn a ton doing a solo trip. Now your adventures will only expand. Well done.

Wonderful... I'm impressed with your honesty and thoughts. I'm getting ready for my first solo, in the Q for 12 days, but I am almost 62. I wish I had been 16 on my first. There would have been a whole string of them by now! BTW: You must have awesome parents!

If we aren't actively working to protect our planet, we are acquiescing to those who run their life as if their personal WANTS are the only things that matter. John

Robert, at almost 50, I am not sure I could do it. I love watching the show "Alone" but the alone aspect of it would disqualify me almost immediately. Very impressive.

Thanks for sharing. Did you say you will solo again?

Without the bad times, the good times wouldn't seem so good.
