Entry Point 45 - Morgan Lake

Morgan Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 26 miles. Access is a 320-rod portage to Morgan Lake. No campsites on Morgan Lake—short portages to further lakes for campsites. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

I was on my 1st solo trip during that heatwave. Swimming was definitely my friend. Stayed on Horseshoe on the 3rd...very busy, lucky I got a site right as a group left at 11:00 am. Glad you got to do a trip with your husband. We are doing our first trip with just each other this summer since our son will be off on his own adventures.

Bringing my kiddos for their first BWCA trip in Aug. Picked Horsehoe because of the easy portages and easy paddle. They're excited!
