Moose/Portage River (north) entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by La Croix Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 27 miles. Access is a 160-rod portage heading North from the Echo Trail.

I will be sure to use Peter's bear repellent technique if I ever need it. :) Those blueberries sure looked good here in my winter sanctuary. Enjoyed both the report & photos. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.

I've done that route and it's one of my favorites, but I've never stopped to see the pictos on Rocky before (or Hegman for that matter!). I'll have to do that next time. Thanks for sharing the report, and great photos!
