Entry Point 47 - Lizz & Swamp Lakes

Lizz and Swamp Lakes entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 34 miles. Access from Poplar Lake by 51-rod portage to Lizz Lake and 100-rod portage into Swamp Lake only. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Thanks for taking the time to put all this together. It was most appreciated & enjoyed. Thought the photo of the illumined tent was really neat. Maybe it said in the report and I missed it but, how long (ballpark) did it take you to get to Cattyman falls from camp? What a great daytrip that must've been...

Glad you enjoyed it. It was 9 miles round trip from our site to Cattyman Falls and it took us 5 hours with a few short breaks. We camped in the southern half of Disappointment. It was an amazing day trip as we had perfect conditions. Portages up to Cattyman took some breaking as they were 2-3' deep in places, but they were short and our backcountry skis helped.
