Entry Point 52 - Brant Lake

Brant Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 45 miles. Access is a canoe landing at Round Lake with an 85- and a 35-rod portage to Brant Lake. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Novel idea for creating a unique report. As you might guess that area is one of my favorites and it's always interesting to hear about others experiences in that particular region of the BWCA. Appreciated seeing the mapped route and the commentary in your video.


I'm curious. Where/how did you put the book together? What were the costs of doing so etc.?

Really enjoyed that and agree with TB above about your presentation. I did that EP just last July (solo) and looped out thru Tuscarora to Snipe and out Ham Lake. (Kicked my butt, I might add.)


That staircase portage is from Gott to Flying and is now a stone step staircase as a project crew tore out the wood one.


Interesting about your experience on Tuscarora in that last July I found just the opposite. Plenty of sites available. I took the first one out of Owl on the far west shore. A bit of a steep rock face, but nice site.
