Great report with lots of intel. I was considering the lower Crab lakes this year but the tow and first portage gave me pause. Looks worthwhile.

You're trip sounded like a nice relaxing one. I didn't recognize most of the lakes so I had to look up you're route...so many places to explore! It was nice meeting you in Ely on Friday.

Thanks BeaV. Was great meeting you and learning more about the challenge! I was definitely thinking of all of you guys on Saturday and Sunday when the winds were howling....imaged you guys practically surfing across the big water.

I think it was worth it. If you go, keep in mind the the majority of people seem to stick to the Crab/Little Crab/Korb/Cummings corridor.

Delightful, informative trip report. I also had to look up those lakes as that is an area I have considered but never traveled. Might have to plan a trip there soon. Great to meet you in Ely with the Border Challenge crowd...was hard for me to come help GrandmaL but not be able to stay and paddle. Hope you have a chance to try the Challenge some year soon. I look forward to your October trip report, assuming you go.
