Entry Point 9 - Little Indian Sioux River South

Little Indian Sioux River (south) entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by La Croix Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 44 miles. Heading South from the Echo Trail. Difficult route. Four portages to Bootleg Lake. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Sounds like a restful trip for your party.


You mentioned the boat ride in was two hours. If you didn't take that option how long would it have taken you to paddle to the place her dropped you off?


I can't catch walleyes either. But any freshly caught in the bwca tastes great!

Honestly I think it would have taken us at least a full day to paddle that, guessing even a day and a half or two days of paddling. You can get to Iron through Medro entry point with less paddling, just a lot of portaging.
