It sounds like you had a relatively good trip. I was surprised that your father, being a paramedic, was in such poor physical condition. Taking this many naps is not normal for the amount of physical activity he engaged in. He may want to have himself checked out for any arterial blockage. I hope he is doing OK. Try doing this trip with your dad at more frequent intervals than 15 years. Both of you will benefit. Best Jerry G.

To each his own, BUT...I don't think I will ever bring a solar charger since the I-phone, I-pad and nook or any other electronic gadgets won't be coming on my BWCA trip. Getting away from that stuff is one of the reasons I go to the BWCA. A flashlight is about the extent of any powered technology for me.

Again, not saying that others can't/shouldn't if they want to but it's just not for me. Am I a minority in this?

I only grudgingly bring a weather radio now. Might be different if I went solo. One can only carry so many books.

Sounds like the trip was a complete success. You planned the trip and went. Most importantly you spent it with your dad.

I think back to all the times I went hunting with my dad, a couple of times grudgingly because I had too many other things needing to be done or it was too far to drive. Even though the majority of the time we came back empty handed and exhausted I wouldn't trade those times for anything. My dad's health is so bad now there is no way we can ever do those things again.
About 11 years ago when he was 75, I took him and my 6 yo son on a late fall trip for a couple nights on Lake One. Wind, rain, snow, sunshine and good memories.

I'm glad you posted your report. Thanks.

That's awesome. Someone just told me that my kid will never forget the trip. I worried about rain. But we'll survive and it's about and adventure and memories. Thanks for sharing your cool memory. Peace and cheers. you r a righteous dude
